I have a few questions: 1) Before they pave, they remove all of the reflectors on the concrete. Why? How do they actually do this? What would be the impact of paving directly over the reflectors? 2) I understand that the "whining" noise everyone hears when driving on the freeway is from the grooves that are used to assist in braking (correct this if this is wrong). I noticed today while driving on a portion of freeway that has been prepped for rubberized asphaulting that there is no whine. Do they remove the grooves somehow? If so, why and how? 3) Are there any other things they do in prepping for paving over the concrete? 4) What's the difference between the temporary stripping and permanent stripping? I'm guessing the permanent stripping has some sort of metal in the liquid to assist in reflectivity? Wouldn't it make more sense to apply the reflectors as they go along paving?
