    January Lunches: Comped Mickey Dee's Card

    I hear that some of you have been hyper-efficient in replying to invitations and even booking hotels! Well done! It's good to hear that some of our friends will be there to join in our Big Day.
    For those of you who are popping by to look at our begging wedding list, we haven't started finalised it yet. We are working on it, though. I promise. We hope to have something published on this site in the next couple of weeks.
    Perhaps we should have a counter with the number of shopping days to go?
    2. I inserted the DVD-RAM disc with the Panasonic DMR-E50 recording
    into my Panasonic computer drive - the SW-9571;
    3. In Ulead VideoStudio 7.0, I selected FILE > CHANGE CAPTURE PLUG-IN
    and I selected the ULEAD DVD-VR CAPTURE PLUG-IN;
    4. I then went to Ulead VideoStudio 7.0's CAPTURE step button;
    5. I then went to the OPTIONS icon and then went to VIDEO PROPERTIES
    and browsed to the DVD_RTAV folder on my DVD-RAM disc;
    6. I then went to the CAPTURE icon button and a pop-up screen appeared
    with a thumbnail representing the video that was recorded by the
    Panasonic DMR-E50;
    7. I went to on the thumbnail and then went to FINISH to 'capture' the
    file to the Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 timeline;
    8. I then observed the file's properties by right mouse clicking on
    it:
    VIDEO - Format: 24 BITS, 704 x 480
    Compression: NTSC DVD, FIELD B, VBR, 9556 Maximum Bit Rate
    Frame Rate:: 29.97
    TOTAL Frames: 1201
    Audio -- Format: DOLBY DIGITAL AUDIO
    Attributes: 48000HZ
    9. During Ulead VideoStudio 7's EDIT button step, I then went to the
    EXPORT button;
    10. After clicking the EXPORT button, I went to the Ulead DVD-VR
    Wizard;
    11. I did so because I wanted to observe the pop-up to see where the
    program was temporarily storing the extracted MPEG file;
    12. The pop-up revealed the file had been given a name -
    uvs030721-001.MPG and was stored here:
    D:Temporaryuvs030721-001.MPG
    13. I then cancelled the Ulead DVD-VR Wizard;
    14. I then went to the SHARE step button and then went to CREATE DISC,
    causing the Ulead VideoStudio 7 DVD authoring module to appear;
    15. Having earlier made note of the location of the extracted MPEG
    file, I went to the ADD VIDEO button and browsed to the file to import
    it;
    16. I received this three-line message:
    "[D:Temporaryuvs030721-001.MPG] contains AC-3 audio tracks."
    "Ulead VideoStudio does not support this audio format."
    "Please convert the audio first to a compatible format."
    17. I ignored the message and went to OK.
    18. I then went to the button in the lower left hand corner of the
    authoring module interface and set my DISC TEMPLATE MANAGER AS
    FOLLOWS:
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4:3
    Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9556 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
    MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
    19. I then went to the other button - the one with the large CHECK -
    in the lower left hand corner of the interface to adjust my PROJECT
    SETTINGS as follows:
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4:3
    Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9556 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
    MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
    20. I also checked the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT FILES box;
    21. I then went to the NEXT button and chose my menu;
    22. I then went to the NEXT button and tested the menu on the software
    player;
    23. I then went to the NEXT button and arrived at the final burn page;
    24. At this point, I ejected the DVD-RAM disc from my Panasonic drive
    and I inserted a clean DVD-RW disc;
    25. I then went to the OUTPUT button to burn the disc;
    26. After the disc was finished, I checked to make sure the AC-3 audio
    had 'passed through' without re-encoding to either LPCM or MPEG Audio
    by closing the authoring module and then clicking the CAPTURE button
    step in Ulead VideoStudio;
    27. I again made certain the Ulead DVD-VR Capture Plug-In was selected
    and I browsed to the location of the Video_TS folder on the burned
    disc;

    Ah... a wise guy! Indeed, wedding invitations are indeed in circulation now. It's all very exciting, isn't it?
    Thanks for ending the debate between two SSAGO (sorry Pete) old gits (I won and got the invite this morning!!)

    Thanks to all those people who've sent us text messages in the last few days. We're glad you're all so happy to have an invitation. We agonised long and hard over the list - with the church having a maximum limit according to the priest of 120 we managed to get the list down to 150, so you might have to be really friendly for a while!
    For those of you asking about wedding lists, we haven't done one yet. We wanted to wait until we'd moved into the new house and had worked out what we needed and what we wanted. Now we're in we've started thinking about it, and we should be able to let you know more in a few weeks.

    We saw the first of the wedding invitations to be printed off, a couple of weekends back. Kirsty's Mum and Dad have done a fantastic job of realising our design. So three cheers to them!
    Even more exciting than all that... ...tomorrow we pick up the keys to our new house!

    Imagine my surprise at finding this in our referral logs.
    Just to set the record straight, my darling bride has chosen her wedding dress and we shall be sending out the invitations long before the recommended 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

    Hmm...whose bright idea was it get married then anyway? Particularly as a) it's likely to be cold and b) it is traditionally the day I do my Chrimbo shopping! - (slightly) miffed
    Well, Slightly, strangely enough Saturday, 21 December 2002 was chosen jointly by the two of us. Apologies if it interrupts your Christmas shopping, but bear in mind that the shops will be open for at least two days between the wedding and Christmas Day.
    That's enough for today!

    Well, Ma, things have been a bit busy of late, but just for you (and everyone else reading), here is an update of what we got up to in our brief spell in the North-East this weekend:
    * We visited the parish priest for the church that we are to be married in. We presented him with our baptism certificates and answered all of his questions, so that he could fill out his forms.
    * Whilst Kirsty, her Mam and her sister discussed floral arrangements with the florist (who else!?), Pete and his father-in-law-to-be visited the stationers to get the stationery (what else) for the invitations and the orders of service.
    * We started looking at fonts, and designs for the invitations.
    * We chose to have a square wedding cake. Why? Because they're easier to cut up into similarly-sized slices than round ones!
    * Things like suits, bridesmaids' dresses and such were discussed.
    * Oh... and we bought 18 disposable cameras to go on the tables at the reception.
    That's about all for now. Tomorrow, the pair of us are off to visit the registrar in Crawley in order to get some certificates.

    Hey Renee,
    Good morning. I'm having a FANTASTIC week. I don't know that I can really explain it.
    Just work has been smooth, reading a great book, and have been getting lots of rest.
    Plus Paul is coming home in 2 weeks, and I'm so looking forward to him being home for a while. He has been traveling for the last month for work. It's getting old.
    Anyhow, I'll totally help with the plans. I think I was a party-planner in my last life. =) Okay, well not really, but maybe. You never know.
    Just call me later. I'm gonna be running errands, but call my cell and we can start the planning and shopping whenever.
    Talk to you then,

    Melissa,
    Hey girlie. What's new? How is your week going? Work has been busy, but foruntately Monday was quiet.
    Since it was Martin Luther King Day, several of our vendors were off from work. I was able to get caught
    up on a lot of things that had been piling up on my desk.
    So, I wanted to get your input and help, if you are willing to lend it, on Deanna's surprise b-day party.
    I'm inviting about 30 people and here is who has replied so far.
    1. Tina Rogers
    2. Lauren Manning
    3. Steve Eidson
    4. Kyle Edwards
    5. Josh and Missy Evans

    7. Jeff and Stephanie Savas
    8. Corrine and Stefan Vickers
    9. Tommy and Rebecca Hollisa
    10. Jackie Urick
    11. Erica Weiss
    I need to find some fun games, and get food, and maybe a few decorations. I also need to get music.
    Finally, I wanted to put together a collage of photos --- one of Deanna over the years with her family and one of Deanna with friends
    & maybe some photos of just friends. That's gonna be my main present to her.
    Are you up for shopping and helping me organize? It would be a big help. Let me know.
    Talk to you later,

    Cleaning Help: A Comped Swiffer Sweep and Vac

    I hear that some of you have been hyper-efficient in replying to invitations and even booking hotels! Well done! It's good to hear that some of our friends will be there to join in our Big Day.
    For those of you who are popping by to look at our begging wedding list, we haven't started finalised it yet. We are working on it, though. I promise. We hope to have something published on this site in the next couple of weeks.
    Perhaps we should have a counter with the number of shopping days to go?
    2. I inserted the DVD-RAM disc with the Panasonic DMR-E50 recording
    into my Panasonic computer drive - the SW-9571;
    3. In Ulead VideoStudio 7.0, I selected FILE > CHANGE CAPTURE PLUG-IN
    and I selected the ULEAD DVD-VR CAPTURE PLUG-IN;
    4. I then went to Ulead VideoStudio 7.0's CAPTURE step button;
    5. I then went to the OPTIONS icon and then went to VIDEO PROPERTIES
    and browsed to the DVD_RTAV folder on my DVD-RAM disc;
    6. I then went to the CAPTURE icon button and a pop-up screen appeared
    with a thumbnail representing the video that was recorded by the
    Panasonic DMR-E50;
    7. I went to on the thumbnail and then went to FINISH to 'capture' the
    file to the Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 timeline;
    8. I then observed the file's properties by right mouse clicking on
    it:
    VIDEO - Format: 24 BITS, 704 x 480
    Compression: NTSC DVD, FIELD B, VBR, 9556 Maximum Bit Rate
    Frame Rate:: 29.97
    TOTAL Frames: 1201
    Audio -- Format: DOLBY DIGITAL AUDIO
    Attributes: 48000HZ
    9. During Ulead VideoStudio 7's EDIT button step, I then went to the
    EXPORT button;
    10. After clicking the EXPORT button, I went to the Ulead DVD-VR
    Wizard;
    11. I did so because I wanted to observe the pop-up to see where the
    program was temporarily storing the extracted MPEG file;
    12. The pop-up revealed the file had been given a name -
    uvs030721-001.MPG and was stored here:
    D:Temporaryuvs030721-001.MPG
    13. I then cancelled the Ulead DVD-VR Wizard;
    14. I then went to the SHARE step button and then went to CREATE DISC,
    causing the Ulead VideoStudio 7 DVD authoring module to appear;
    15. Having earlier made note of the location of the extracted MPEG
    file, I went to the ADD VIDEO button and browsed to the file to import
    it;
    16. I received this three-line message:
    "[D:Temporaryuvs030721-001.MPG] contains AC-3 audio tracks."
    "Ulead VideoStudio does not support this audio format."
    "Please convert the audio first to a compatible format."
    17. I ignored the message and went to OK.
    18. I then went to the button in the lower left hand corner of the
    authoring module interface and set my DISC TEMPLATE MANAGER AS
    FOLLOWS:
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4:3
    Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9556 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
    MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
    19. I then went to the other button - the one with the large CHECK -
    in the lower left hand corner of the interface to adjust my PROJECT
    SETTINGS as follows:
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4:3
    Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9556 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
    MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
    20. I also checked the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT FILES box;
    21. I then went to the NEXT button and chose my menu;
    22. I then went to the NEXT button and tested the menu on the software
    player;
    23. I then went to the NEXT button and arrived at the final burn page;
    24. At this point, I ejected the DVD-RAM disc from my Panasonic drive
    and I inserted a clean DVD-RW disc;
    25. I then went to the OUTPUT button to burn the disc;
    26. After the disc was finished, I checked to make sure the AC-3 audio
    had 'passed through' without re-encoding to either LPCM or MPEG Audio
    by closing the authoring module and then clicking the CAPTURE button
    step in Ulead VideoStudio;
    27. I again made certain the Ulead DVD-VR Capture Plug-In was selected
    and I browsed to the location of the Video_TS folder on the burned
    disc;

    Some wedding Commentage:
    Je quotes: 'We haven't sent out any invitations yet'. Strictly true, of course, since Kirsty's parents did it, but they are in existence... - Jim
    Ah... a wise guy! Indeed, wedding invitations are indeed in circulation now. It's all very exciting, isn't it?
    Thanks for ending the debate between two SSAGO (sorry Pete) old gits (I won and got the invite this morning!!)
    No need to apologise! We're glad the invitation arrived and you're so happy about it.

    And now some feedback...

    Bah, humbug. I *hate* booking holidays. Particularly when you've got to go over Christmas. I object to over inflated prices. Top wedding tip today - get married out of season.

    I thought I'd venture into this communicating lark, to remark that the updates are a bit thin on the ground. Just as well I have other means of finding out wot is going on!!! Our Ma

    Talk to you then,
    Mel

    Melissa,
    Hey girlie.
    6. Tim and Rachel Perkins
    Talk to you later,
    Renee
